Shower manufacturer Triton has set its sights on delivering zero waste to landfill, having introduced environmental initiatives at its factory in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
A strategy geared towards recycling or reusing waste components and material by 2018 has seen the company reduce the amount it sends to landfill by more than 95% in less than five years.
Triton has a colour-coded waste management system, which is audited by the company’s senior management team. It has also introduced ‘Oasis’ segregation points, throughout the office and production departments, to ensure staff and visitors recycle.
It has also created a duty of care arrangement with it suppliers, and waste carriers also transport and segregate waste in line with Triton’s environmental policy.
Managing director at Triton, Lorna Fellowes commented: “Triton has long maintained a commitment to minimising its environmental impact and optimising the way in which our showers are manufactured is a vital part of this.
“As a responsible British manufacturer, we are constantly reviewing opportunities to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill and to reduce waste at its source. Ultimately we want to ensure our customers can feel assured they are investing in a company which is committed to maintaining leading environmental credentials. This is an ethos into which every one of our staff has bought.”
