One Bosch model and one Neff model are ‘explosion risk’

As part of a wider, on-going safety campaign, initiated by its parent company, BSH Home Appliances has launched a voluntary repair action for two gas hobs, including one Bosch and one Neff model.

The affected models are the Bosch built-in gas hob with knobs on the right-hand side (NGU4151DB) and the Neff built-in gas hobs with knobs on the right-hand side (T20531N0) which were produced between the years of 2009-2011.

The company has stated a risk of explosion can arise only in extremely rare cases due to a possible damaged gas connector. However, BSH also reports a safety risk cannot be completely ruled out for these models.

As a precautionary measure, it has extended a free of charge, voluntary repair action on two hobs sold in the UK and Republic of Ireland, which amounts to 3,900 models.

Of this figure, 3,898 models affected in the UK were sold by 59 retailers and the remaining two models in the Republic of Ireland were sold through two trade partners.

An official statement from BSH read: “We are not aware of any incidences involving these appliances in the UK or Ireland. The safety of our customers is our top priority, and we have voluntarily decided to extend this repair action. We have informed and are in communications with the Trading Standards Office in Milton Keyes and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commissions in Ireland.”

BSH has also started to run a series of press advertisements, to alert consumers. Concerned consumers should visit the website or call the appropriate helplines for further assistance.
