Solus Siematic showroom, Grid Thirteen in Leeds has unveiled the UK's first kitchen in gold leaf, according to the high street retailer.
Priced at over £150,000, the display features SieMatic’s S2 kitchen in natural walnut and matt lacquered Truffle Grey and includes a Dornbracht Supernova tap in a 23 carat gold-plated finish. The centre piece of the display is covered with 22 carat gold leaf glass.
Grid Thirteen is owned and run by Natalie Fry, former designer and multiple award winner for Poggenpohl, who has more than 20 years' experience in the industry, working with some of the UK’s most prolific interior designers and architects.
She said, “I am absolutely thrilled with the new installation and the feedback so far has been immense. The new display is the ultimate in luxury kitchen furniture, although not as delicate it may appear. We have had the 22 carat gold leaf hand gilded behind 10mm toughened glass, a material that is incredibly hardwearing and we can achieve millimetre precision drainer grooves into the glass with the water jet process.
"This is a real show stopper with clients visiting from all over the UK to see the opulent showpiece. I took a brave decision to allocate valuable sales space to introduce a concept so extravagant, however we have attracted great interest from a number of high profile clients following the launch.”
