Surface materials supplier IDS has moved its head office and regional distribution brand to a purpose-built HQ in Stoke, to improve service, stockholding and product availability.
The 65,000sq ft premises is at the Parkhouse Interchange, 1.4miles from its former site and cost £3.5million for the bespoke designed space.
It includes a 45,000sq ft warehouse to hold 1,700 items in stock, an increase of 30%in stockholding, and features an inventory-controlled system which IDS claims will mean faster and more accurate stockpicking.
In addition, it has a 10,000sq ft office to house the company's 75 local staff and a 55 seat training room for seminars, product training, local school and college education and seminars.
Completing the premises is a 15,000sq ft manufacturing facility for its Showerwall brand of bathroom panelling.
The Parkhouse branch is the first of the company's 12 regional sites to feature a newly-designed showroom concept, prior to its national roll-out. It features IDS' portfolio, such as its recently-launched ProClick flooring, alongside timber and tools for the trade.
