Investment will modernise and almost double capacity of OSB mill

Norbord has announced a £95million investment in its factory, to modernise and expand its orientated strand board (OSB) mill in Inverness, almost doubling its capacity.

The investment, which is supported by a development grand from Highlands and Islands Enterprise of up to €15million, will upgrade the mill to continuous press technology.

Built in the early 1980s, Norbord states the mill was the first in Europe to manufacture OSB and was also the first OSB plant to receive Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditation.
