Independent, family-run kitchen retailer Optiplan has celebrated 30 years in business and from its first showroom in Aldershot now operates from 11 bases across the Home Counties.

Owned jointly by Bernard Deasy and Gareth Jenkins, the company averages 800 kitchen installations a year with a turnover of almost £11m.

Optiplan now owns their own granite factory in Hook, where stonemasons create granite surfaces for the company’s kitchen designs.

Bernard Deasy commented: “Our core principles are about putting our customers first and our business has been built through word of mouth and recommendation. Our customers return to Optiplan and we are now installing second generation homes with our kitchens.”

Jenkins (left) added: “We have found that having ‘all our eggs in a select few baskets’ has worked very well for both us and our partner suppliers. Our policy of firstly doing our research then committing absolutely to a selected supplier (providing our terms can be met) for many years has resulted in business relationships spanning many years.”
