“First real new product to market”

Luxury brassware and sanitaryware manufacturer Perrin & Rowe unveiled its Deco Bathroom Collection to a 60-strong audience of retailers and architects at The Brewery in the City of London. It followed the global launch of Deco at Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas.

Speaking at the UK launch, managing director Steve Cole said: “Deco is a special product because it’s our first real new product to the market, rather than adaptations of previous [models].”

Deco draws its design inspiration from the Art Deco period, which spans the 1920s through to the 1940s, and spans wall and deck-mounted basin mixers and bath sets, as well as showers and accessories.

Having been approached by a client to create a bespoke Art Deco-influenced range, in 2013, the company then decided to launch its own version, following an investment of around £300,000-£400,000 in the collection.

Established in 1978, Perrin & Rowe products are specified in hotels and spa resorts, as well as private dwellings, globally, and numbers celebrities as clients.

Around 62% of its business is exported products to 27 countries, including China and India. Its retail sales are expected to be £39million this year.

Perrin & Rowe has its headquarters and brassware factory in Rainham, Essex, a casting, plating and polishing plant in the Midlands and sanitaryware factory, totalling just under130,000 sq ft. It employs around 130 people across its three manufacturing sites.

Last year, the company moved its sanitaryware business to brand new premises, which offer three to four times more capability,

Steve Cole said: “We are investing heavily in our business. We invested a lot last year when we made profits. We’re investing a lot of profits, this year; back into the business…The business feels great. We’re in a really good position. We are making good profits and I’m really proud of everybody in the company for getting there. It was an interesting journey.”

And he said the loyalty of retailers, architects and designers were instrumental in the company’s success.

Perrin & Rowe will be showing Deco at the May Design Series in London, at ExCel from May 17-19, 2015, as well as launching boiling hot taps with touch screen, digital tank.
