Smeg launches SDAs

Smeg mixer, toaster, kettle and blender

Italian appliance manufacturer enters small domestic appliance arena

Smeg, famed for its retro Fab fridges and most recently its Fiat 500 refrigeration has turned its attention to small domestic appliances, launching a collection at Milan Design Week today.

It has introduced 50s-inspired toasters, kettles, blenders and mixers, which it believes will create an entry point to the Smeg brand, as well as add-on sales.

Created by Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti of Milan-based design house, the small appliance collection features curved lines, Smeg lettering, and comes in a selection of pastel colours.

Managing director of Smeg UK, Mike Giddings commented: “This is a new avenue for Smeg, which we have designed to meet the rising demand for our iconic Smeg retro-style designs. Now, you can choose to complement your existing 50s-style fridge freezer or washing machine with a matching kettle and toaster. The products are inspired by colours, icons, objects and designs of the retro era and there are up to seven different colours available. Each shade will match with the Pantone colour of existing Smeg appliances, for those who wish to co-ordinate.

“This new collection is also perfect for those who aspire to own a larger appliance, as they can still afford to join the artistic Smeg following with a stylish mixer or blender.”
