Small kitchen and bathroom projects honoured with awards

The winners of the inaugural Marion John Design Awards for small bathroom and kitchen design have been announced by the competition’s organiser the Federation of Kitchen & Bathroom Designers (FKBD).

Four awards were presented to the best small kitchen and bathroom, with both having two categories recognising the best design in using ‘off the shelf’ and bespoke solutions.

Daryl Brooks of The Kitchen Boutique in Bedfordshire won the Best Small Kitchen Award using ‘off the shelf’ components, while Mark Hand of Hand Built Designs in Corrandulla in Galway scooped the Best Small Kitchen using bespoke components (pictured).

Lisa Melvin of Lisa Melvin Design in Rugby was awarded the Best Small Bathroom using ‘off the shelf’ components, while Mike Downs of Ablutions Bathrooms in Coalville, Leicestershire won the Best Small Bathroom using bespoke components.

Organiser of the awards and founder of the FKBD Garry Milligan commented: “We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2013 Marion John Design Awards. Marion was a firm supporter of designers in the KBB industry and she believed that every project, regardless of size or budget, deserved the very best design. I am sure she would have been very encouraged by the standards displayed in this year’s entries, and proud to have her name and memory associated with this competition.

“Next year I am hoping for even more entries and looking forward to seeing equally high quality work. Thanks to Kitchens & Bathrooms News for its support and also to our sponsors Roca, Hafele and Landau Parapan.”

Kitchens & Bathrooms News will feature the details of the winner’s projects and will also shortly announce the details of the 2014 Marion John Design Awards.
