Celebrating its 20th anniversary, 100% Design launched its 2014 show

Contemporary design show 100% Design celebrated its 20th anniversary at the launch of its 2014 event, during a meal at Heal’s in London.

The show, which takes place at Earl’s Court in London from September 17-20, will boast a timeline feature, spanning two decades of design, alongside its five show zones, which include Interiors, Workplace, Kitchen and Bathroom, Eco, Design and Build, plus Emerging Brands.

100% Design’s creative campaign, created by Thomas Matthews, features a series of kaleidoscopes that represent the five show zones.

First staged in 1995 in a tent off King’s Road in London, 100% Design now spans Earl’s Court 1 and 2, totalling 20,000sqm. At its last outing, 100% Design attracted 27,000 visitors, an increase of 7.5% compared to the previous year. According to its owner Media Ten, this has been a 33% increase in footfall since the acquisition of the show in 2011.

Luxury kitchen manufacturer Bulthaup is already confirmed to exhibit at the show.

Speaking at a celebratory dinner, show director of 100% Design William Knight commented: “The show has achieved so much in the last 20 years, from starting as a boutique UK design show to now becoming an international even in the design calendar, with an extensive global reach.

“Despite the scale increase over the years, 100% Design stays true to its long-standing commitment to design, innovation and quality and continues to offer an unrivalled platform for aspirational design brands as well as emerging young designers to showcase their talent and creativity. 100% Design 2014 will celebrate the history but also look ahead to see where design will take us in the next 20 years, and we are confident that the show will be one of our best shows yet.”
