Sink and tap manufacturer Abode took the opportunity of people working from home during the lockdown to invest in improvements to its head office in South Yorkshire.

The new layout sees the customer service and sales team working within one office for the first time, enabling more collaborative working.

In addition, a mezzanine level has been created that allows more space for the product and technical teams to carry out tasks such as product testing.

It means staff can work in an environment with COVID-secure measures in place.

Managing director Matthew Pitt commented: “As the business grows, space has become quite limited.

“We were able to bring staff back from furlough relatively quickly following the lockdown and needed to be able to maintain a high level of customer support throughout the pandemic and beyond, making these structural changes to head office very timely.”

He continued: “Providing a safe environment for our staff takes priority, while these improvements also give us more space to work and room to grow in the future.”

Based in Barnsley, Abode was founded in 2002 and is part of the Norcros Group, which includes Triton, Merlyn, Vado, Croydex and Johnson Tiles.

It supplies Abode branded products through distribution and also manufactures own-brand for blue chip names.
