German kitchen furniture brand Alno has returned to the UK market, through Neue Alno.

The company was formed following the acquisition of Alno assets by investor RiverRock, last year, and is led by managing director Thomas Kresser.

Based in Pfullendorf, Neue Alno will service UK retailers from its 82,000sqm factory, with a dedicated UK service team.

It employs 320 people and manufactures most items in-house “to ensure highest quality and short delivery times.”

Alno offers a range of laminate, lacquer, ceramic and glass doors with coloured carcases, including Anthracite Grey to match the Anthracite Grey Legra box.

Investment has already been made to expand the lacquering capabilities of its factory.

Neue Alno is a single brand manufacturer and is aimed at the upper middle sector of the market.

Alno UK, which formally supplied the Alno brand, fell into administration after its parent company Alno AG suspended production causing supply problems.

The brand was established in 1927 by carpenter Nothdurft who opened a woodworking workshop and started to make furniture.

It became industrialised as Alno Mobelwerke in 1958 and around a decade later the company expanded into other markets, entering the UK in 1974.
