UK adds to eight Turkish and one Taiwanese R&D centres

Parent company of Beko, Arcelik will open a global engineering and technological research centre in Cambridge, this summer.

Based in Cambridge Science Park and supported by UKTI, it will focus on white goods, covering areas such as software design, materials and production.

The UK centre adds to the company’s eight research and development facilities in Turkey and one in Taiwan, which see a total of 1,000 people employed globally in R&D.

CEO of Arcelik, Hakan Bulgurlu commented on the investment: “We are proud to take this important step in the expansion of our global R&D capability by established our first centre in the UK, a world leader in the field of research and development.

“R&D is crucial to the future of Arcelik – it is at the heart of our global strategy. Our innovation capabilities enable us to enter into new markets with products that meet the needs and expectations of consumers.”

The UK Centre will build on the company’s relationship with Cambridge University, as one of 50 universities and research organisations worldwide, including Oxford University and Newcastle University.
