Barwood director runs for Children’s Burns Trust

Sharon McKenna to run Derby 10k

Sales and marketing director of Barwood Products, Sharon McKenna is set to run the Derby 10K, on April 19, in aid of the Children’s Burns Trust.

Barwood Products is a member of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association and the Children’s Burns Trust is the organisation’s chosen charity for 2015.

The charity’s ‘Hot Water Burns like Fire’ campaign aims to highlight how scalding accidents can change lives, particularly for the young and the old – many of whom have thinner skin and are more vulnerable to burn incidents.

In addition to raising awareness of burns and scalds through prevention campaigns, the Children’s Burns Trust works with the NHS to provide help and funding for rehabilitation. It also provides financial support to families and provides advice and access to burns-related information.

Sharon McKenna commented: “Working in the bathroom sector I have seen first -hand the impact on families of scalding accidents and it can be absolutely devastating. In this day and age it really needn’t happen as there are many products on the market with built-in thermostatic devices that can moderate water temperatures. I would be very grateful to anyone who wants to sponsor me for this.”
