Ex-display miniature railway signals footfall for store

Showroom manager of Bathbase in Bognor Regis, Jason Pierce is chuff, chuff, chuffed with his store attraction, which is an ex-display complete with miniature railway.

The cloakroom display features three railway tracks which run around the WC, cistern and basin or the whimsically named Seaton Dunny, Upper Flushing and ‘Basin’ stoke.

In addition, it has an underground track, running through the soil pipe, and named Pooh Corner.

Jason Pierce explains how it works: “The trains are controlled by turning on the tap on the basin and flushing the cistern lever.”

But Pierce isn’t plain loco; he’s used the display in the showroom to raise money for charity and has showcased it at local model railway shows, where he has picked up the Best Layout trophy twice.

He adds: “Exhibiting it has brought people into our showroom and gained some decent, local press coverage.”
