Helping families live healthier lives, home appliance brand Beko has introduced its ‘Beko Veg Pledge’ Initiative, this summer, in support of children’s charity Barnardo’s.

The pledge follows the unveiling of its HarvestFresh refrigeration range, which uses three-colour lights to mimic the natural light cycle, and help to preserve vitamins in fruit and vegetables for up to five days.

With each purchase of a qualifying HarvestFresh fridge freezer, customers will be offered free fruit and vegetables from the Veg Box Company.

Families will be able to custom create their fruit and vegetable boxes from a choice of fresh, seasonal produce.

And for every customer claim received for the promotion, Beko will also donate a box of fruit and vegetables to a Barnardo’s service user.

Marketing director at Beko UK & Ireland, Vijay Bhardwaj, said: “Empowering families to live a fuller and healthier lifestyle is at the core of what we do at Beko.

“With more families using our HarvestFresh technology, households across the UK will also benefit from a healthier lifestyle.

“The Covid-19 crisis has disproportionately affected low-income families, with many experiencing food poverty.

“Our Beko Veg Pledge initiative will offer a helping hand to young people and families, enabling them to eat healthier.

“For the past seven years, we have worked alongside Barnardo’s to help vulnerable children and families across the UK.

“Since partnering with Barnardo’s back in 2013, we have donated over £250,000 to Barnardo’s and provided over 800 appliances such as fridges, washing machines, cookers, microwaves and vacuum cleaners to families, as well as young people leaving care.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Barnardo’s and look forward to working together through the Beko Veg Pledge initiative.”

Barnardo’s director of brand and marketing Devia Gurjar said: “We are proud to be long term partners of Beko, and are grateful they will be donating boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables to vulnerable children, young people and families around the UK through the Beko Veg Pledge initiative, along with top tips on eating healthily.

“Together we will provide a show of support for those feeling isolated during this challenging time.”
