Premium appliance brand Bora is investing in its own factory at the company’s site in Niederndorf in the Austian Tyrol.
The Bora Vertical Factory, which will produce built-in appliances, will have three buildings designed as a cohesive building complex.
These include a main assembly hall, high bay warehouse for raw and semi-finished materials with 6,000 storage spaces, and HGV delivery zone.

It will integrate into the existing architectural structure, and the construction project will include a basement, ground floor and three or four upper floors, cafeteria, rooftop terrace, plus two car parks.
With a tailored façade, the factory has been created to blend into the environment.
Mirrored panels will clad the warehouse, while the production and storage and logistics will be made from natural and dark textures and light wood, respectively.
In addition, the building will feature a photovoltaic green roof to provide green energy and promote biodiversity
Rather than a traditional layout, the Vertical Factory is named as production operations will be stacked on multiple floors.
It will have a floor area of approximately 6,000sqm, and a total gross floor area of more than 20,000sqm, with 17.3m high production and 20.8m high storage and logistics.
According to Bora, it results in minimal land consumption with space saving of around 60%.
Also designed for energy efficiency, the building will feature thermal groundwater for heating and cooling, heat recovery systems, solar panel systems and LED lights and presence detectors.
Having held the official groundbreaking ceremony, completion of the factory is expected in the second half of 2026.
Production will take place on week days in a one or two-shift system, depending on demand.
According to the company, bringing production closer to its design team will allow it to bring new developments to the market quicker and react promptly to market changes.
Bora founder and CEO Willi Bruckbauer commented on the changes: “The factory is a clearly visible sign to the outside world that our company is constantly evolving.
“The change from buy to make means a real change for every employee.
“I sense a very positive atmosphere and am convinced that we can achieve incredible things together.”
