Carved in Stone hosted by Cosentino during London Design Festival

Five marble sculptures on display from September 16-20

Surface manufacturer Cosentino will be hosting the Carved in Stone installation at its flagship UK commercial showroom, Cosentino City London, during London Design Festival 2019.

There will be five marble sculptures, designed by renowned architectural practices, on display from September 16-20.

Carved in Stone will be held in collaboration with Cuellar Stone, a Spanish company which creates special projects using natural stone.

At the beginning of the year, London architects were invited to put forward their proposed design in-line with the installation’s theme ‘Live on Mars’.

A panel of judges, including members of Cosentino and Cuellar Stone, chose the designs.

The winning entries have been made by craftsmen from Cuellar Stone who have carved them out of  500mm x 500mm x 500mm blocks of Macael Marble.

Marble was chosen for the project, as it signifies the origins of family-owned Cosentino which started out quarrying and processing marble in Macael, Almeria.

London Design Festival features a host of trade exhibitions, talks, installations and projects commissioned for the event, held across the Capital.

Its four major trade shows, called Design Destinations, include 100% Design, designjunction which this year features VitrA, Focus/19 and London Design Fair.

Cosentino recently played host to the Otomoto lifestyle brand during Clerkenwell Design Week.
