Three logistic and service centres opened in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir
Manufacturer of worktops, the Cosentino Group has invested €2.5 million into a subsidiary in Turkey, to serve the whole country.
Since 2009, Cosentino has operated in Turkey through an exclusive distributor but now the company will directly control distribution, as part of its system of international expansion.
Cosentino has set up three logistics and service centres, at Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, which have a combined total area of 3,150sqm, with capacity for 10,000 slabs.
The sales forecast for 2014 in Turkey is €2 million, with the company aiming to double that in 2015. The Group forecast for this year is €575 million, an increase of 16% from 2013.
The Turkish subsidiary has a team of 15, led by Alper Sensan, who has been Cosentino’s exclusive distributor in turkey for the past four years.
Sales director for the Asian and Pacific markets, and direct sales, Gines Navarro commented: “Turkey is another example that shows our commitment of establishing ourselves – with our own assets and using our own expertise – in new markets, continues to forge ahead. It is a key strategy for our international operations as well as for the growth of the Group.”
He continued: “Turkey is clearly experiencing a process of growth as it has 73 million inhabitants, with 50% of the population under 30. We have already had an initial presence here in recent years, which has enabled us to achieve a market share of about 5%. There is, therefore, plenty of room for expansion and, with our strategy, we hope to seize the opportunities of a market with great potential regarding the areas of remodelling and renovation, and where the construction sector is expected to grow at 5.3% a year over the coming years.”
Cosentino distributes its products in over 80 countries, with its own facilities in more than 20. Around 90% of the Group’s turnover is from international markets.
It manufactures and supplies quartz worktops Silestone, natural stone Sensa and the sintered stone Dekton brand of worktops, which has recently launched into the UK.
