Kitchen appliance brand Falmec has launched a promotion for its Bellaria combined air purifier and lamp, with a leaflet which stated “This £1,000 lamp yours for £5000”, causing controversy in the industry.

Kitchen dealers were quick to notice the statement and responded with quips, such as “did someone get carried away with zeros?” “I might look like a cabbage but I’m not green” and “your coats are on a rusty nail”.

However, the statement was purposely designed to cut through emails and referred to the fact Bellaria will be offered free of charge with a minimum order of £5,000.

MD of Falmec UK Sean Drumm commented: “The only clock you notice is the one that’s wrong…and this simply looks wrong! Off the wall wrong.

“But considering it’s designed to grab the attention of the dealers who receive so many emails day in and day out, the reaction has been amazing and the take-up already exceeds expectation.

“It shows that we are on to something, so we’re definitely going to run with this!”

The standalone Bellaria air purifier is designed to neutralise viruses and irritates like dust mites, spores and pollen from the home.

Using Falmec’s patented E.ion technology the unwanted pollution, allergens and odours are removed to restore clean, sanitised air to the indoor environment.

All appliances from Falmec’s extraction portfolio are eligible for the promotion, as are the company’s collection of induction and downdraft models.

The Bellaria promotion runs from September 1 and runs for three months until November 30, 2020.
