Italian extractor manufacturer Falmec has been named the winner of the Excellent Product Design category in the German Design Awards with its Spazio hood.

Falmec's Spazio wins German Design Award

Designed by Francesco Lucchese, Spazio is an island hood, interspersed with smoked glass shelves for storing dishes and glasses.

It is equipped with a channel, divided between hooks, for ladles and a shelf for spices with roll holder.

Meeting the trend for biophilic design, it also offers a special area for the cultivation of aromatic plants with a dedicated light and a kit composed of two trays.

In addition, the hood also boasts a system of electrical sockets and USB ports, which allow users to recharge and have electronic devices at their fingertips.

This includes a ‘tablet’ support, allowing users to access recipe apps, during the cooking process.

In terms of extraction functionality, Spazio uses Falmec’s ‘Circle.Tech’ system, which is designed to expel air evenly after being filtered by Carbon.zeo filters that wrap around the engine.

This method is achieved thanks to the company’s ability to combine the suction and filtering parts into one piece.

It is the second German Design Award for the company, following a presentation for its Sintesi integrated cooking system in 2019.
