Student quota reached

Buckinghamshire New University has reached its quota of students for the Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design, meaning the course will now run, following the extension of the course enrolment deadline.

The first intake of students will start with a residential study weekend, at the university’s Missenden Abbey Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire from September 19-21, 2014.

Developed in response to the need for training in the industry, the course aims to increase the skills and knowledge of those working in the sector.

Quarter sawn Tulipwood

It is a three-year blended learning Foundation Degree and includes three long weekend residential sessions, however students will also learn and have contact with tutors online. 

The course aims to give students an understanding of how to undertake kitchen projects and includes modules on topics such as Kitchen Marketing and Kitchen Design Worlds.

Scholarships are available to students, which have been pledged by Blum, Bosch Siemens Home, Miele, Hettich and Mereway Kitchens. 

Buckinghamshire New University has also worked alongside Callerton Kitchens, Counter Production, Dupont Corian, Mark Wilkinson, Roundhouse Design and Sensio.

Professor Alison Shreeve, head of school – Design, Craft & Visual Arts at Bucks New University said: “We are very excited to meet our first group of students.

“I am delighted with the support the kitchen design industry has given and look forward to ensuring our students get the most from this as the qualification develops over the next few years.”

Closure of application dates for the Foundation Degree is September 5, 2014.
