Kitchen sink, tap and appliance manufacturer Franke UK joined with environmental charity Groundwork to help improve the Irkside Nature Reserve in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Seven employees from Franke’s headquarters in Manchester spent a day working in the outdoors with members of the Groundwork team as the site gets ready for the summer season.
The team removed non-native Balsam plants to create space for reseeding of wildflower species, cleared the pond margin and improved the footpath by trimming willow trees to create an inviting and accessible environment.

They also undertook path clearance work, trimming overhanging branches and removing encroaching grass, as well as filling path voids and removing potential trip hazards.
Communications manager at Franke UK Jeanette Ward said: “We are thrilled to have had the chance to make a tangible difference to an important green space in our local community through our ongoing collaboration with Groundwork.
“It was a great opportunity for some of the team to come together outside of the office environment to learn new skills, strengthen team relations, and experience the sense of fulfilment that comes from giving back to local communities and projects.”
