EURO 40million project to expand logistics site in Germany
The Geberit Group, which has recently made a bid for Sanitec, is investing €40million in increasing its logistics capacities in Pfullendorf in south Germany.
The site will be expanded due to positive development of the business, plus the need for increased capacity to be able to fulfil orders for the international markets served.
Geberit supplies over 100 countries from its Pfullendorf base and construction is due to begin in spring 2015.
The expansion will also see the introduction of new technologies and the optimisation of processes. A further 18,400 pallet storage spaces, which are fully automated, will be added, plus the fully automated storage of 51,500 small containers. In addition, 15 loading bats and a 15,000m2 processing area will be added.
Work is due to be completed at the beginning of 2017 so that the extensions can commence operations in the same year.
The Geberit Group has sales of CHF 2.3biliion and employs 6,300 people in 41 counties worldwide.
