Haier Europe has expanded its largest European production and export centre, with an investment of €85million into two new factories in Eskişehir, Turkey.

Appliance manufacturer Haier Europe has expanded its largest European production and export centre, with an investment of €85million into two new factories in Eskişehir, Turkey.

According to the company, the expansion represents a strategic move for the company in line with Haier Europe’s vision to become the first choice for consumers for smart home appliances.

The company has opened a 43,000 sqm tumble dryer factory with the aim of manufacturing 1.5 million units per year across the companies brands – Candy, Hoover and Haier, and approximately 900 people employed at the location.

In addition to the tumble dryer expansion, a new dishwasher factory is planned to open in 2022.

This will have a production capacity of approximately one million units per year and will employ around 700 people.

Chief executive officer of Haier Europe, Yannick Fierling commented: “The new production facilities are a key step in elevating Haier to the top three players in the industry in Europe by integrating artificial intelligence, IoT, and connectivity into high-end products and home solutions.

“We want to consolidate this mission by counting on a competitive industrial footprint and strong R&D and hi-tech capabilities, systems and platforms for the entire value chain.”

Haier reported 20% growth in the brand, at its annual conference, with 12% increase in Europe and announced production investment plans for this year and 2022.
