Maintaining its plan to become a top five appliance brand for Europe

Household electricals manufacturer Haier is set to celebrate its 30th year trading, on December 26, 2014.

It was established as the Qingdao Refrigerator Factory, with 600 workers, when Zhang Ruimin, now chairman and CEO of the Haier Group took over the company.

The Haier Group now employs 70,000 people and has a presence in more than 100 countries worldwide. It boasts five research and design centres, including Nuremburg in Germany and Compodoro in Italy, with 8,150 dedicated to this part of the business. And it invests 4% of annual turnover into this area.

The group has achieved a turnover of $29.5billion in 2013 versus $25.8billion and showed a profit of $1.76billion.

According to the company, it is the number one brand in the world for multiple product areas including refrigeration, home laundry, freezers, plus wine chillers .

Haier also maintains plans to become a top five brand in Europe and is already active in 30 European countries, with its headquarters in Paris, France, and local offices in France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Benelux and Poland.
