CEO of Ideal Standard Torsten Turling took viewers around the city of Milan to locations such as the Pirelli Tower, Fondazione Prada and Triennale museum talking to experts about architecture and design.

Turling said: “We see ourselves in the context of urban development. Building architecture and bathroom design is part of the culture of design and culture in general.

“We aim to shape the future of modern living, together with architects, urban designers, developers and our partners in trade and research. We believe in the power of what we call ‘together for better’.”

The Together World Tour spans Berlin, London, Dubai and Shanghai, with each city forming a backdrop for a product launch for its Atelier Collections.

Chief design officer Roberto Palomba said: “We are developing many products, collections and strategies…There are new materials, creations and visions.

“Achille Castiglioni said ‘We are interested in becoming silent partner in a path of life where people are the protagonists’.”

He continued: “Ideal Standard has always invested in masterpieces because we try to investigate values and not trends.”

The first of its Atelier Collections launches and inspired by Ideal Standard’s historical links to Italy, and Milan in particular, the company unveiled Linda-X.

Roberto Palomba explained it was a tribute to the Linda collection, created in 1976, by Achille Castiglioni and the new version was made of an “ultralight” ceramic called Diamatec which produces fine lines.

He continued stating the main feature of the product, is a step below the basin, which allows a capacious bowl to fit onto reduced depth furniture.

Palomba added: “Why is that? Because we should remember that, nowadays, the bathrooms are not huge. So we can’t furnish them as if they are living rooms. But still, we need to equip them with all the necessary features.”

The next destination of the Ideal Standard Together World Tour, and next product launch, is Berlin in June.
