IFA Berlin launches Chinese consumer electronics and household appliance fair

 IFA is set to launch CE China, a fair for consumer electronics and home appliances, in Shenzhen, China from April 20-22, 2016.

Speaking at the IFA media reception at the CES show in Las Vegas, global director of consumer electronics for GfK Jeurgen Boyny forecast China was a region for growth: ““Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances will continue to grow until 2020 and even beyond. Decisive regions for growth are China, with its by far biggest market; South East Asia and India will develop by a continuous upgrade of household equipment. All these markets are driven by innovation”.

CEO of Messe Berlin Christian Groeke spoke about the Chinese show, which he said would be focused on innovation: “CE China will build on the huge success of the IFA concept, with its focus on brands, their innovation and products. CE China will strive to display cutting-edge technology in the consumer electronics and home appliances industry providing a professional platform for buyers, consumers and companies.”

The show is backed by Chinese online retailer Alibaba. President of 3Cs & Home Appliances Business Unit Alibaba Group Yin Jing said: “We will bring Internet thinking and data together to host an unusual electronic exhibition, the CE China, which I believe will be an unprecedented and unparalleled event in the industry.”

IFA takes place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from September 2-7, 2016.

Last year, IFA featured 1,600 exhibitors across 150,000sqm and attracted 240,000 visitors.
