Enamelled steel bathroom brand Kaldewei has achieved the globally-recognised Cradle to Cradle Certification [C2C], which it reports is an “industry first”.
According to the company, it is the first supplier of bathtubs, shower trays and washbasins to offer the certification.
Globally recognised and cross-industry, at the heart of the C2C certification is the circular economy, where waste raw materials are reused at the end of life, as source materials for new products without “significant” loss of quantity.

The Silver level certification took more than a year and half for the company to achieve, and signals to designers and the construction industry it is paving the way to a circular economy.
Made from steel and glass, Kaldewei bathroom products are 100% recyclable so can be returned to the material cycle at the end of their life.
Its latest accreditation adds to its sustainable credentials, which include signing the Science Based Targets SBTi and using CO2 reduced steel.
Kaldewei is convinced the construction industry will rely more on C2C Certified products and materials in the future, to meet the increasing need for sustainable solutions and stricter regulatory requirements.
