Buckingham New University has limited places still available on its Foundation Degree (FdA) in Kitchen Design and BA (Hons) degree in Kitchen Design.

Bucks New University launches BA (Hons) Kitchen Design

Both courses are provided through flexible and distributed learning, with teaching mainly online, and residential study blocks taking place at Missenden Abbey Campus.

The FdA is a three-year course, which can be topped up to a BA (Hons) degree in Kitchen Design for an additional one year of study.

For the FdA, students should normally have five GCSEs including English at grade C/4 or above and an appropriate Level three qualification such as A-levels, National Diploma, Access course, City & Guilds or equivalent.

However, relevant work experience from a related industry sector, an aptitude for design and willingness to commit to personal study required will be given equal consideration.

Course leader Jayne Hall Cunnick added: “We can take school leavers into the FdA and we currently have students who range in age from 21 to 70 so there is no limit.”

For entry into the BA Hons degree course, students will require existing qualifications up to level 5, a degree in an unrelated subject or several years of industry experience is also acceptable at this level.

The BA (Hons) course was set to launch in 2022 but, if four places are filled, it can start this year.

Jayne Hall Cunnick commented: “We have an enormous amount of support from industry for these courses. We have recently collaborated with The Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom Specialist Association (Kbsa) – a trade association specific to the independent KBB sector, who have made an amazing financial commitment to the courses.

“And we work closely with a number of important brands such as Symphony Group, Blum, Blanco and many others who offer a range of different types of support from financial to providing expertise.

She continued: “Our courses are as the only ones of their kind available. The courses reflect the realities of working in the multi-million-pound global kitchen design industry, and we aim to develop highly competent and creative professionals whose kitchen design thinking is elevated beyond the norm, we believe these qualifications set our graduates apart from the rest.

“Interested applicants should get in touch as soon as possible as we will be running our first all-inclusive residential weekend in mid-September.”
