Presented prize for Kitchen over £50,000

Lida Cucina was presented the prize for best Kitchen over £50,000 at the International Design and Architecture Awards, held at the Hurlingham Club.

Created by Lida Cucina designer, Kate Rayner, the kitchen was for a contemporary new build in London, built by developer Alexander James and using Pedini furniture.

The five bedroom house curves around a large oak tree which is protected by a preservation order and this, together with the modern architecture, influenced the design.

Kate Rayner commented: “I used grey oak as it is more contemporary and combined it with the glossy silver grey lacquer that reflects the natural light from outside. The use of curves creates a more intimate and sociable area that softens the hard lines. The worktops had to be hardwearing and practical, so a composite stone – Okite Bianco – was chosen. The high level shelving around the tall units mirrors the architecture of the building.”
