UK manufacturer of wall panels and the company behind the Multipanel brand, Grant Westfield has appointed John Mortimer as its managing director.

Multipanel owner appoints new MD

Former sales director Mortimer joined Grant Westfield in 2019 from Formica Group, and he spent the past four years leading the sales and marketing teams.

Mortimer has a first-class Honours degree in Marketing Management from Northumbria University and a CIM PGD in Marketing.

He has a wealth of knowledge in high-pressure laminate products and engineered surface materials from working with the trade and retail sectors, as well as with architects, designers, fabricators, specifiers and developers.

Under Mortimer’s lead, Grant Westfield launched what it claimed to be the first tile-effect wall panel made in Britain and FSC certified.

Stepping into the role of sales director is former director of Key accounts Michael Dobson, who has worked at Grant Westfield for over 18 years.

Commenting on his new role, John Mortimer said: “I’m honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead Grant Westfield. The business has a great heritage, brilliant people, fantastic customers and a very exciting future.

“Through the Multipanel brand, Grant Westfield continues to disrupt the waterproof wall covering market, and with plans for more innovative and trend led product development, it is an incredibly exciting time for the business, and I’m delighted to lead the business into its next phase of growth.”

According to the company, over 8,000 Multipanel wall panels are manufactured each week at its factory in  Edinburgh and distributed throughout the UK and Northern Europe through bathroom showrooms, merchants and online retailers.

The company recentlt asked the industry to re-think MDF, with the redesign of the product’s core to improve sustainability and address supply issues.
