Plans to open 14 branches by end of 2015 and total 40 outlets by end of 2018

Independent builders’ merchant Ridgeons is set to unveil the Plumbstock brand, which is dedicated to heating and plumbing.

The 100-year old Cambridgeshire business will open its first branches within existing Ridgeons outlets in Hitchen, St Neots and Diss, which opens on November 10.

Spearheaded by the head of plumbing, heating and sanitaryware Pete Diamant, Plumbstock will have a network of 12 infill and two standalone branches by the end of this year.

It forms part of a longer-term plan to create a network of more than 40 Plumbstock branded sites by 2018, creating 120 jobs across the East of England.

Pete Diamant commented on the launch: “The Ridgeons brand is synonymous with heavyside materials and in some cases wouldn’t be the automatic choice for plumbing and heating engineers – despite our existing heating and plumbing centres having expert knowledge and market experience of the segment. We wanted to create a dedicated brand within our group that would resonate with the heating and plumbing market by using a brand name that clearly indicates our commitment to stock availability.”

He continued: “The aim for Plumbstock is that it will become the largest independent in the region and be the merchant of choice for the plumbing and heating trade.”
