Electronics giant Samsung has debuted the next generation of Family Hub refrigeration with Artificial Intelligence at CES in Las Vegas.

Samsung debuts Family Hub with AI

It allows for hands-free operation as users can ask AI assistant Bixby about news and weather updates, which is featured on the Family Hub screen so they can see and hear it.

Bixby can distinguish each family member’s voice to also offer a personalised experience.

With the integration of Samsung’s SmartThings, owners can also see and control Samsung and third party smart home devices from the refrigerator and by voice, using Bixby.

Senior vice president or Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics America John Harrington commented: “When we first launched Family Hub three years ago, it was an app-based experience anchored in food management, family connections and entertainment.

“We are introducing the latest version of Family Hub featuring Bixby with AI capabilities.

“Bixby no provides a new level of connectivity and intelligence designed to make everyday tasks much easier.

“When combined with our new Family Board, the Family Hub is the perfect combination of convenience and connectivity.”

For 2019, the refrigeration will feature a new Family Board, a communal screen that allows family members to interact through notes, customisable photos and on-screen doodles.

And Samsung also announced Family Hub refrigeration will be available in a wider choice of model.
