Sponsor of the Black Country Living Museum

Thomas Dudley has become a sponsor of the Black Country Living Museum’s Schools Membership Scheme. It will mean the company’s funding will allow over 1,000 local children to visit the museum for value-added out of classroom activities.

Joint Managing Director at Thomas Dudley, Martin Dudley, explained “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting both the Museum and local schools. We have been manufacturing high quality iron castings and bathroom products in the town since 1920 and are passionate about the development of young talent”.

“This sponsorship follows our work in putting together the UK’s first dedicated Foundry Apprenticeship Scheme and our unique Careers in the Classroom initiative. We look forward to working closely with the Museum over the coming year, to giving youngsters an insight into the Black Country’s unrivalled past, present and future manufacturing capabilities and to helping nurture the UK’s next generation of engineers”.

The museum partnership could also lead to the provision of engineering themed learning visits and Key Stage 2 and 3 students being invited to attend behind-the-scenes tours of Thomas Dudley’s foundry and plastics moulding divisions.

Director of Development at Black Country Living Museum, Vicki Stanley, added “Thomas Dudley’s support will allow us to bring 1,200 children from a wide range of local schools to the museum, many of whom will be coming for the first time. They will learn about and be inspired by the hard working people in the Black Country”.

Thomas Dudley employs over 250 people at its Birmingham New Road Head Office and around 300 people across all of its group companies.
