The Water Label sees the Bathroom Manufacturers Association win double

The Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) received two business awards for its Water Label in just two days. Chief executive officer Yvonne Orgill was presented with the Special Achievement Award at the 19th Industry Awards on March 25, held at the Hilton on Park Lane, London.

The award is given to those individuals who have made an ‘outstanding contribution to the kitchen and bathroom industry’ and was presented by Irish comedian, Ed Byrne. Orgill was presented the award for her work in developing The Water Label and she is the first woman to have won the award.

The following night, March 26, the BMA collected the Business Innovation Award at the 18th Sentinel Business Awards held at the Kings Hall in Stoke. According to the BMA, the award was presented for ‘a significant contribution to business’ and said ‘the judges were keen to hear about how the intellectual processes gave rise to its design and development.’

Orgill said: “I’m absolutely delighted. In fact, I can’t quite believe it. Two days and two awards. I’m stuck for words and that’s not like me. We just wouldn’t have got The Water Label to where it is now in Europe without a lot of hard work (and sleepless nights) by a small and dedicated team of BMA staff, supported by our industry membership. It is just brilliant to see how it’s all come together!”

The Water Label is now being rolled out across 27 European countries. The scheme allows consumers to compare hundreds of products that meet industry standards for water efficiency.
