Used and ex-display kitchen retailer Used Kitchen Exchange (UKE) has scooped a regional title in the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards 2022.

Used Kitchen Exchange awarded grant for growth

Nominated in the Sustainability category, the criteria required companies to show they had built an enduring business model that is commercially viable and scalable, placing sustainability at its core.

The accolade means UKE is now a finalist in the Sustainability category or the national awards that take place on November 3.

Founded in 2015 by Helen Lord, the Cheshire-based business has been created for consumers to rethink about how they buy a business and in 2021 was the first kitchen company to be awarded B Corp Status.

UKE has also recently been presented The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development, in recognition of its achievements in the kitchen industry.

Now in its seventh year, the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards comprise eight categories ranging from start-up through to sustainable success.

The aim of the awards is to place entrepreneurs in the spotlight for their contribution to industry, the UK economy and society.

Commenting on the awards win Helen Lord said: “Our vision from the outset has been to support and promote sustainability within the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry and we are delighted that our efforts have received recognition from Barclays.

“Following our receipt of The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development earlier this year, this latest accolade pays further testament to our circular thinking business model and our brilliant team whose dedication and passion have helped bring it to fruition.”
