UK manufacturer Utopia Bathrooms has invested £500,000 in a board storage and delivery system, including a throughfeed router, at its Wolverhampton headquarters.

According to the company, it will provide better planning and organisation at the start of the production process which reduces downtime and improves productivity.

The 600sqm board storage can hold approximately 5,040 boards of different thicknesses and colours – enough to product approximately 15,000 cabinets.

On receipt of an order, the machinery selects the boards which are fed by vacuum pod to two beam saws and a throughfeed router.

Joint managing director of Utopia Bathrooms Dave Conn (pictured) said: “It is more important than ever to invest in the latest technology to ensure Utopia remains ahead of the game. Reaping the benefits from this latest investment will consolidate our position at the forefront of the industry and enables us to demonstrate our commitment to excellence in British manufacturing yet again.”
