The Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association (Kbsa) has announced designer Wayne Hemingway as head judge of its Designer Awards 2018.

Wayne and his wife Gerardine started and built the fashion label Red or Dead and sold the company 21 seasons later in a multi-million deal. They then set up Hemingway Design which specialises in affordable and social design.

He received an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours in 2006, has been named a professor in The Built Environment department at Northumbria University and doctor of Design at Wolverhampton, Lancaster and Stafford. In addition, Hemingway is also a Fellow of Blackburn College.

National chair of the Kbsa Richard Hibbert commented: “We are delighted to have secured such a well-regarded designer to head up our new judging panel for 2018. “This is just one of the changes we are making this year to ensure our awards are best in class and remain recognised as one of the most worthwhile awards in the industry.

Wayne Hemingway will also present the awards at the Stratford Manor Hotel, Warwickshire, on September 12.
