Additional space for warehousing, design, test facilities and updated paint facilities

British manufacturer of cooker hoods, Westin has acquired property which adjoins its current Huddersfield head office site, where the company has been based since 1921.

It will increase the size of the property from 22,000sqft to 76,000sq ft, and adds to the refurbishment of Phoenix Mills, which has taken place over the last three years.

The additional space will be used for warehousing, design, test facilities, and updated paint facilities for the hoods. Westin directors also anticipate that the new building will eventually incorporate more office space, with expanded meeting rooms and a showroom.

Managing director of Westin, Ian Sheppard commented: “We are very happy that this is another exciting forward step for Westin. Earlier this year we launched our 360 technology, which has received unprecedented feedback as a high performing extraction solution with energy savings irrespective of the ability to duct out. This investment in infrastructure will allow us the additional facilities to further develop this technology and more.”

He added: “Many of our 38 members of staff are local folk so, as a team, we are particularly delighted to further embed the Westin brand in its home town of Huddersfield. This is another chapter in our history which goes back almost a century.”
