Esther Berrozpe is named president of Whirlpool Europe, Middle East and Africa

Following Whirlpool Corporation’s acquisition of Indesit and its subsequent integration into the American company’s European business, Esther Berrozpe has been named president of the EMEA region.

Indesit chief executive officer Marco Milani is set to step down from his position by the end of the year, on December 31, 2014.

Vice chairman of Whirlpool Corporation Mark Bitzer commented: “As a newly-combined company, the importance of having a unified leadership team will be central to the success of Whirlpool EMEA going forward.”

He continued: “This marks an important milestone as we position our European business for growth and on-going value creation throughout the upcoming integration process and as we focus on product innovation, margin expansion, a and delivering on our commitments to consumers within the region.”

Following a mandatory tender offer and purchase of the remaining Indesit shares, by Whirlpool Italia, the Italian appliance brand is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Whirlpool.

Whirlpool Corporation has annual sales of approximately $19billion in 2013, employees 69,000 staff and has 59 manufacturing and technology research centres around the world.

It is the parent company of brand names Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and Bauknecht, as well as Indesit.
