Whirlpool opens EMEA HQ

Milan-based building will accommodate 600 staff from 28 countries

Whirlpool Corporation has opened its EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa)  headquarters in Pero, Milan, with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentioni having presided over the event.

The headquarters, which accommodates over 600 employees from 28 different countries, has been built to sustainable standards and features a rooftop solar power system, which is exected to save 16 tons of C02 emissions each year.

In addition, the company offers sustainable transport for its employees, through a commute sharing app and free shutle bus service, and is set to redistribute food waste through the organisation Banco Alimentare.

Whirlpool EMEA president and Whirlpool Corporation executive vice president Esther Berrozpe Galindo commented: “The Prime Minister’s visit is a great honour for us at a very important time for Whirlpool EMEA in Italy.

“In addition to the new headquarters, in the last few years we have invested $500million into product innovation, state of the art industrial processes and ongoing training for our employees.”

Whirlpool EMEA has also opened the ‘World of Whirlpool’ a 500sqm flagship showroom in Milan showcasing its four major European brands Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, Hotpoint and Indesit. 

Vice president, products and brands, for Whirlpool EMEA Norb Schmidt said: “The World of Whirlpool is a new, exciting space where we can share the experience of our brands and products.

“The environment has been conceived as an immersive experience that allows guests to exlpore, live and experience our brands’ products through interactive content, show cooking and ‘edutainment’ activities”.
