Part of the Darwen Terracotta Group, Whitebirk was founded in 2019 to preserve and evolve the UK’s tradition of handmade ceramic production, a legacy that dates back to the late 1800s.

The company has also continued to invested  apprenticeship programmes and skills transfer across its ceramic manufacturing teams, helping to secure the future of UK-based craft production.

Steve Allen, managing director of Whitebirk, commented:We’re proud of our roots in British ceramic manufacturing, but we’re also focused on the future, investing in new products, new markets, and the next generation of skilled makers.

“We believe there’s strong international appetite for high-quality, handcrafted products from the UK that tell a story and are built to last.”

“With recent changes in the local manufacturing landscape, our role as the region’s last remaining fireclay sink factory carries added responsibility.

“We’re not just investing in the Whitebirk brand and infrastructure, we’re investing in the local community, preserving specialist skills and creating opportunities for future generations here in Lancashire.”
