Staff and management of worktop manufacturer Wilsonart have surpassed its £10,000 charity fundraising goal for 2019.
Launched in February 2019, the team at Wilsonart pledged to raise £10,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.
UK dementia charity, Alzheimer’s Society provides information and support, funds research for a cure, care and to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
As part of a year-long programme of charity activities, the company held Dress Down Fridays, charity bake sales, a sponsored slim, pyjama party and sponsored moustache growth for Movember.
A team of 20 staff at Wilsonart also took part in the cycle challenge Shildon to Shore, a 250-mile journey from their Lambton Street, Shildon site to Shore Laminates in Perth, Scotland.
They completed their journey in three days raising a total of £7,000.
In addition, six members of staff took part in a 10,000ft charity skydive, which raised almost £4,000, surpassing the £10,000 target and providing the charity with a cheque for £11,686.
Head of Sales for Wilsonart UK Nick Jones said “2019 was our biggest fundraising year yet. Right across the business, all of our teams have got stuck in to support the Alzheimer’s Society.
“Working with Dan Nelson (community fundraiser for the charity) and meeting him earlier in 2019 has been tremendous and provided the inspiration we needed to reach our £10,000 target.
“Huge thanks to everyone involved in our many fundraising activities. Wilsonart feels proud to have supported this great cause.”
