Delivery driver Dee Patel is presented the gong for Outstanding Bravery

Delivery driver for Zehnder, Dee Patel won a Daily MIrror Pride of Britain Award, which was presented at a star-studded ceremony held in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Patel was awarded with the Outstanding Bravery trophy after he saved many lives by stopping a runaway car on a motorway in rush hour traffic.

Recognising the driver was unconscious, Patel caught up with the car and cornered it into a crash barrier, causing the car to come to a halt.

Established in 1999, the Pride of Britain Awards honour unsung heroes who have acted bravely in challenging situations, and this year the ceremony was hosted by Carol Vorderman.

Presenting Patel with the award was actor David Hasselhoff, singer Alesha Dixon and TV personality Amanda Holden.

Former Baywatch and Knight Rider actor David Hasselhoff said: “What Dee did was incredible; it just takes my breath away. These awards are incredible because they recognise such brilliance.”
