Specialist surface materials distributor IDS has appointed Steve Ball as its new technical services manager.

Ball will be responsible for providing technical support and training for IDS’s product portfolio including flooring, worktops, bathroom wall panelling, solid surface, as well as sinks and taps.

He steps into the role following the retirement of Tony Locke after 30 years’ service with IDS.

With a career spanning 20 years, BAll spent 12 years with McD Marketing supporting the company’s solid surface products.

Most recently he was employed as Bushboard’s national training manager/ technical support, where he spent seven years delivering installation training on worktops, solid surface and quartz, as well as its Nuance bathroom wall panelling system.

Steve Ball will report to commercial director at IDS Andy Sutton who said: “Steve brings with him a wealth of experience in surface materials, installation and technical services, together with a strong knowledge of IDS’s product ranges and our customers, all of which will allow him to play a valuable role supporting the commercial team and our ever-growing product portfolio.”

It follows on from IDS strengthening its marketing team, last year, with the appointment of a digital marketing manager.
