With boutique hotels often acclaimed as inspiration for home bathrooms, it can also help residential designers anticipate trends and source products, across a range of price points, to mirror a hotel experience.

Engaging installations

This year will see a new pair of immersive and engaging hospitality installations which explore the future of hotel form and function.

London’s Blacksheep and Wroclaw’s MIXD will create experiences that explore the big issues facing guests, designer and operators alike.

Set in the Collection space, MIXD’s ‘Unfinished Works’ explores themes of location and visual storytelling, as well as the role of technology in hospitality experiences and the design process and built in collaboration with Hansgrohe.

While The Umwelt Paradigm mezzanine installation explores hyperlocality, displacement and meta-modernism via a space that will morph and change across the event.

At the core of the design, Blacksheep answers the question: “Everybody – and every living thing – has a different way of seeing the world.

“We all inhabit our own sensory bubble, and bring our own ‘umwelt’ to each environment. But does the same thing happen in reverse? Can the spaces we inhabit change us too? Do we shape them, or do they shape us?

Both of the designers will be talking about the concept of their spaces in the HIX talks programme, alongside a variety of exhibitors and here is a curated selection of interest to bathroom designers.
