Equipped with infrared proximity mixers, the taps have an on/off function that operates within a 200mm sensor area.

The mixers also include EcoSmart technology, which limits water flow to around 5 litres per minute.

In addition, the sensor technology reduces water use as it features a stopping time of 60 seconds.

The sensor fittings are available across existing ranges which include Hansgrohe Metris S and Focus, through to Axor collections of Starck and Citterio.

There are two sensor options, depending on the design of the fitting, with the sensor located either on the front of the mixer or integrated into the underside of the water outlet.

Available in mains-operated or battery versions, the taps can operate around 200,000 times before the battery needs changing.

Speaking about the launch, vice president of product management at Hansgrohe Group Jan Heisterhagen said: “Contactless fittings are going to play an increasingly important role in the future of bathroom design.”

The Hansgrohe Group recently posted its 10th consecutive sales record and second best in the company’s history.
