At the Kuchenmeile, or kitchen mile, Germany furniture manufacturers come together and introduce their latest products at individual, in-house trade fairs.

The group of 29 manufacturers, located around the A30, represent two thirds of the German kitchen industry.

We have compiled a curated edit of kitchen brands which will provide the direction for retailers in the UK, in terms of kitchen colours, textures, materials and furniture planning.

NOLTE

At its recently refurbished Nolte Forum, which provided more than 7,000sqm of display space, the company showed a variety of styles and kitchens for differing rooms and lifestyles.

It included Neo, a premium priced kitchen, which can be sold complete or individual elements of the range can be used to upgrade all Nolte kitchens.

It also showed a trend for open-plan mid-sized kitchens, such as this project featuring Flair and Manhattan in Volcanic Oak (pictured).

BAUFORMAT & BURGER

Making the most of your home, even in the smallest of spaces, was the focus of the Baumann Group, which includes both Bauformat and Burger brands.

Under the theme of New Home, kitchens were cozy, multifunctional and flexible, with shelves, tables and counters used as transitions and attention paid to storage.

The company also focused on cabinet heights, measuring 845mm for handleless and 796mm for kitchens with handles.

Its latest kitchen launches included the Jette furniture range from Burger in black semi-gloss finish and Anabelle in Alpine Oak with tall storage (above).

In addition, the Bauformat brand unveiled Porto S in Acai semi-gloss and Kitzbuhel in Noble Grey (below).

The group even created six Moodboards to help retailers combine colours, materials and surfaces with confidence.

These spanned Spectral Rainbow, International Style, Modern Classics, Trash#Cycling, Mindful & Pure and Green Urbaning.

SCHULLER

Live. Love. Cook. was the motto of this year’s exhibition for Schuller and looked at the living space as whole, turning the home into a place to retreat and a haven for well-being.

It included wall systems and sideboard, plus a revision of its colour palette with matt velvet lacquer, satin lacquer and satin lacquer with pore effect now all available in 27 hues.

In addition, designers can choose from three carcase heights and the Frame Rack aluminium shelf has been extended with a tall unit, worktop frame racks and recessed units.

POGGENPOHL

The central theme of the Poggenpohl in-house fair was “Spotting new dimensions” presenting a view of different possibilities for kitchens.

It focused on unusual materials, such as Terrazzo, Nero Portoro and Rosso Lepanto marble, as well as lava stone worktops.

The +Venovo furniture line, included a ceramic glass worktop made from recycyled green glass (pictured).

In addition, the frame front family of kitchens saw the introduction of Contour with aluminium profiles, and the material also figured in the Array 170 shelving system, which could be suspended from the ceiling or wall mounted.

Completing its line-up, Poggenpohl introduced its softly-lit Showcase cabinet series to display prized possessions, momentos or everyday items.

PRONORM

Under the theme ‘Colours of Nature’, Pronorm launched 17 doors with a mix of real wood veneers and melamines in organic colours included Angora Grey in an ultra matt texture (shown).

It was joined by woodgrains in inky blacks and greys, real wood veneered doors in a narrow-fluted design in walnut and oak, with tactile stone and metal-inspired decors, to create luxurious living spaces.

The company also previewed i-luminate, a premium designer handleless kitchen with integrated handle featuring illumination, which will come in any of Pronorm’s 250 door finishes.

It will be available through specialist appointed Gallery Dealers, with the appropriate customer demographic. This brand will be shown at KBB 2022 and available from March 2022.

STORMER
Resoft is one of the latest kitchen collections from Störmer, launched at its hausmesse, which boasts a soft anti-fingerprint finish.

The blue handleless design featured titanium rails with new horizontal rails on the wall units.

The kitchen dining hub is a central focal point styled in a new contrasting Dark Stone style laminate.

It was created for the show to demonstrate the design versatility of Störmer furniture.

ROTPUNKT

“Stay connected” was the motto for the Rotpunkt in-house exhibition and featured wood effects, grey, black, green, red and blue kitchen doors.

It included narrow ribbed wooden doors Memory MI Old Forest Oak, raised and fielded Pavilio MX in a contemporary grey, Xerox HPL XT in a Split Oak and supermatt finish Zerox FX Fenin Green, Red and Blue.

In addition, Rotpunkt introduced cabinetry built around waist height laundry appliances to create utility rooms.

The company also considered the issues of sustainability and took guests along its journey to FSC Certification with information on climate protection measures, and ‘green product range’ with greenline BioBoard Gen2.

 

With kitchen manufacturers having announced developments every two years, designers can also expect to see additional new ranges at Salone del Mobile in Milan, from April 5-10 2022.
