Brought to market in just three months, the range includes an oven, dishwasher, washing machine, washer dryer, tumble dryer, refrigerator and a standalone cleaning cabinet.

HygieneShield appliances use methods such as steam, heat and UV light as processes of disinfection.

The oven uses saturates steam and heat, with a choice of two disinfection programmes working at  70°C and 120°C.

Using the oven at 70°C for 15 minutes disinfects surfaces of packaged food and makes the outside of baked good more hygienic, without affecting taste of structure.

Whereas using the oven at 120°C for 20 minutes will disinfect items like metal bowls and glass products.

The HygieneShield dishwasher has a hygiene feature with steam with additional hot rinsing functions.

Whereas the combi refrigerator has a separate disinfection drawer above the crisper drawer which uses UK light technology to disinfect food items in their original and sealed packaging in 40 minutes.

The HygieneShield washer machine and washer dryer  boast a hygiene therapy programme which fills the drum with hot air to keep the laundry at 60C to sanitise clothes.

According to Beko, more than 99% of viruses and bacteria are eliminated from 2Kg of clothes in 58 minutes.

Part of the laundry line, a tumble dryer, boasts the UV Hygiene Refresh programme for refreshing up to six dry pieces of clothing.

In addition, it also offers the UV Hygienic Drying programme which dries and sanitises up to 5Kg of washed laundry, even clothes that need washing at low temperatures.

Completing the line-up is a standalone cabinet which uses UV light to disinfect items used outside of the house, such as keys, phones, wallets, baby bottles and toys, in 40 minutes.

CEO of Arcelik, parent company of Beko, Hakan Bulgurlu said: “The products have been tailored to help consumers achieve professional levels of hygiene at home and protect them from infections and diseases.

“Our technologies are being independently tested by Airmid Health Group, a respected biomedical research organisation.

“As of today, HygieneShield washing machines, washer dryers, ovens and refrigerators have been shown to provide more than 99% virus reduction

Airmid tests of UV disinfection cabinet and tumble dryers are in progress and we expect to finalise the testing and certification processes by November.

“Our dishwashers are being independently tested by Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the testing and certification process is expected to be completed in October.

“We hope that our products will give consumers peace of mind that their homes are safe and clean, as we all continue to adjust to the ‘new normal’. ”

Beko HygieneShield appliances have a 5-10% price premium and will be available to the market by the end of the year.
